When An Anti-Vaxxer Got Desperate
I don’t know where to even begin.
An Italian man, who did not want a vaccine but had to have it so as to continue working, showed up for his vaccine with a fake arm.
Yes, a fake arm. You heard it right.
He arrived for his shot with a silicone mold covering his real arm. When the nurse was disinfecting his skin, she felt something strange. The skin was rubbery and cold, and the skin pigments looked light and fake.
When she hesitated to give him the shot, the man requested her to turn a blind eye, but the nurse instead reported him to the authorities concerned for attempting fraud.
The irony here is that the man was a health worker who was suspended from work for not being vaccinated against COVID-19. The jab is mandatory for frontline health workers in Italy. So, he decided to have his shot, but with a twist.
Local police are now investigating the incident in Biella, northwest Italy, and local officials have criticized the man’s actions.
The same man was later found to have previously written on Twitter about the chest-length silicone vest covering the neck and arm. In his post, he asked his followers if he would go unnoticed if he wore this vest, which costs around €500 on Amazon.
If I go with this, will they notice? Maybe beneath the silicone, I’ll even put on some extra clothes to avoid the needle reaching my real arm, “the Twitter user reportedly wrote.”
Since August this year, Italians have had to be vaccinated in order to access train stations, cinemas, restaurants, gyms, and swimming pools. They are supposed to show proof of vaccination at these places. It’s called a “green pass.”
The incident has sparked concerns in the country, and the authorities have asked the nurses to be more vigilant to prevent such brave attempts in the future.
Although I appreciate his creative genius, it’s irresponsible of him to have done what he did. Healthcare workers all over the world were the first people to get their shots. I am surprised at how he was able to escape not getting vaccinated for this long. Come on, it’s been almost a year since the first vaccines came out.
This means he had been working all along without getting the shots. How is this even possible? How was he even allowed to work in the first place after the pandemic hit the country two years ago? While it’s good for him that he has survived despite treating or being close to patients with the virus, it says a lot about the inside workings of the hospital he was working at.
Now he has to get his jab. Let’s wish him good luck with it.
